New Zealand Chamber Solists - Elegy

Sandwiched between two famous 20th century Russian piano trios is the Babajanian Piano Trio in F sharp minor which has become the signature work of the New Zealand Chamber Soloists.  A little known gem of a composition, it has been performed by the trio across five continents, most recently in China and Singapore. Compelling performances of all three works place the New Zealand Chamber Soloists in the front ranks of Ensembles.

All distinguished New Zealand soloists, the NZCS was formed in 2006 and are based at the Conservatorium of Music at the University of Waikato. They regularly commission and perform works by New Zealand composers on the international concert stage as well traditional repertoire, with a penchant for revitalizing lesser played works. This is the debut CD by the New Zealand Chamber Soloists.

New Zealand Chamber Solists - Elegy

"Throughout this disc the playing of the New Zealand Chamber Soloists gets it right, identifying with and capturing the character of each work with terrific energy, single-minded determination and heartfelt feeling. The production features a well laid-out booklet with helpful liner notes by Robert Johnson, and the recording gives a vivid and compelling presence to the music-making." Peter Mechen, Radio New Zealand July 2010

"...the New Zealand Chamber Soloists' unaffected, but deeply affecting, playing, compares favourably with the cast, Lang Lang, Vadim Repin & Misha Maisky"    Fanfare Magazine Nov 2011
