Shahmirza Moradi, sorna The Music of Lorestan, Iran
Reza Moradi, dohol
The oldest existing documents about wind instruments in Iran date back to the 6th - 4th century BC. The sorna was frequently used at that time as an accompaniment to dances. The instrument is made from wood, and its dimensions can vary greatly - its average length is 40 cm. It is conical, with a double reed mouthpiece and eight holes, which give it a range of an octave and a note. The works presented here are basically dance tunes and melodies played on happy occasions.
