Complete Cycle of Beethoven Violin Sonatas

A unique event featuring England’s foremost artists on period instruments who will perform all of Beethoven’s Violin Sonatas in the 2004 and 2005 Wyastone Summer Series.

Complete Cycles of Beethoven’s Symphonies are a common occurrence but not so his magnificent Violin Sonatas: we are therefore delighted to welcome Monica Huggett, one of the worlds leading exponents of the baroque violin, to perform them all across the next two festivals. Her partner in these Sonatas will be the acclaimed pianist and BBC presenter David Owen Norris. These are their only UK performances of the Sonatas in 2004.

Monica Huggett tours all over the world as soloist, director, and chamber musician, and she has recorded with such orchestras as the Hanover Band, Raglan Baroque Players, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Academy of Ancient Music, and the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, which she formed with Ton Koopman in 1980.

Sonata no.4 op.23 in A minor
Sonata no.6 op.30 no.1 in A major
Sonata no.7 op.30 no.1 in C minor
Second Concert - June 25th
Sonata no.1 op.12 in D major
Sonata no.8 op.30 no.3 in G major
Sonata no.9 op.47 in A major ‘Kreutzer’

Both performances will finish at approximately 9.45 pm
