Details

Persian music usually starts with a rhythmic introduction called pishdarâmad, and is followed by an arhythmical piece called darâmad. It continues with a more rhythmic piece entitled châhârmezrâb. After the instruments introduce the modal atmosphere, the singer starts improvising on a free rhythm in accordance with the poetic meter. The instrumentalists follow the singer after a short delay, and repeat the melody periodically, between each sung verse, in an identical way or with a slight variation. This repetition is known as djavâb-e âvâz or 'song-response'.

Reviews

"This CD has another very beautiful classical Persian song suite, combining solo singing, solo instrumentals, melded together by ensemble playing with both vocal and instrumental together. Very traditional and beautiful music, you must hear this, you will love it. As you hear it, you can just imagine you are sitting in a palace in Isfahan....."-Mark Fowlkes

"I have listened to this master piece of the Persian classical music and should recommend it to the music lovers especially, those who are interested in the world music. Sima Bina, a legend of the Persian music has dedicated her life to the enhancement of the Iranian Folk Music for more than 30 years. She has vigorously traveled to many parts of Iran and has collected many pieces of folk music for the first time in the Iranian history. This talented woman should be admired not only as a star singer, but a musician and a historian. With this CD, Sima Bina and Hossein Omoumi have done a great contribution to the Persian classical music. Listen, relax, and Imagine paradise with peace and tranquility."- Anonymous
