Bach The Complete Organ Music Volume 16

Volume 16 is, more than any other, the one whose arrival I have been so eagerly awaiting since the programme schedule was out together nearly fifiteen years ago. It contains music drawn from some of the darkest corners of Bach attribution - delightful, suprising treasures, neglected and unfinished pieces and, yes, one or two very fat, very black, spiders crawling up into the light from two and a half centuries of unloved obscurity.

In this particular DVD age this particular release might be thought of as Deleted Scenes, Abandoned Shoots, Outtakes, multi camera angles and storyboards.

"Bowyer's pace, musicality and his ability to colour each of the works on these discs with remarkable variety and crystal clarity, marked in the series as a whole, bring this music an unrivalled immediacy... This is a recording that one could talk about until the cows come home; better not to talk but simply listen, then my argument for its inclusion in your collection will become instantaneously apparent."
