Bach The Complete Partitas for Piano
Bernard Roberts's reputation as an interpreter of Beethoven and Bach continues with the Complete Partitas. The Partitas, or Clavierübung, were critically acclaimed by Bach's contemporaries for their compositional originality and technical diversity in the late Baroque. They are presented here by Bernard in the follow-up recording to his Forty-eight Preludes and Fugues, the latter gaining condiderable merit from both critics and listeners upon it's release.
|Review||"The Partitas are heard more often today on the piano, and the splendid set from Bernard Roberts shows why. His clear, clean articulation is a constant joy, and the dance movements are delightfully played. Throughout, Roberts's playing reveals new aspects of these many-faceted works, at times light-hearted but with an underlying profundity that is fully realized here. The Nimbus recording is first class in every way, beautifully focused, with just the right degree of resonance in an ideal acoustic." The Penguin Guide|
