Beniamino Gigli Volume 1 1918-1924

"Some of the loveliest of all singing on record is heard here. By 1918 Gigli had been hailed as 'the tenor' in the land of tenors, and by 1921 he had come to be thought of as Caruso's successor in New York...The beauty of the voice emerges with clarity and presence; and all the transfers have been made from originals of the finest quality." "Beniamino Gigli’s acoustic records made between 1918-1924 not only represent the tenor in his finest state, but they rank among the very best tenor records ever made. And while they are familiar to vocal collectors and Gigli fans, it is doubtful that they have ever sounded quite so good as they do in this compilation made with Nimbus’s Digital Ambisonic process. The transfers made from mint cpies are almost miraculous. If not for the toned-down acoustic orchestra, the recordings might well pass for early electrics. Buy this!”  James Camner, Fanfare
