Heat of the Moment: Lars Cleveman Tribute
Lars Cleveman is a Swedish tenor, born in 1958 and still active. After studying at the Academy of Opera in Stockholm in the 1980s he performed at various Swedish opera houses. He belonged to the Royal Opera in Stockholm's permanent ensemble from 1996 to 2009. Since then, he has worked as a free-lance.
His role interpretations are characterized by a great insight and characterization. In the beginning, his voice was ideal for the French and Italian repertoire, and he has been compared to Jussi Björling, but over the years it developed to become excellent for Wagner's Helden-tenor roles. After singing Tristan and Parsifal, the big breakthrough came with the role as Siegfried in the successful production of the complete Ring at the Stockholm Opera in the late 00's.
After that he has performed at Covent Garden, the Met and in Bayreuth, among others.
On CD 1 we find tracks from mainly the French and Italian repertoire while CD 2 contains exclusively music by Wagner. All tracks come from different performances, mainly from the Stockholm Opera.“
