Heinrich Schlusnus 1919-1925
Heinrich Schlusnus was one of the most celebrated German baritones of his era. Indeed, as part of the legendary Berlin State Opera ensemble of the inter-war years he was regarded by many as the outstanding Verdi baritone of his generation; a reputation confirmed on this disc in recordings of arias from Il Trovatore, Rigoletto and Otello.
|Review||"Although generally overlooked Heinrich Schlusnus is without doubt one of the finest baritones of his time. I first became aware of him from an old 78rpm record my Father possessed. I was taken by the richness and "musicality" in his voice. This CD comprising his early operatic repertoire provides evidence and confirmation of how good he was. I can therefore strongly recommend this CD to all lovers of good singing." - Mr. Chistopher E. Powell|
