Nellie Melba 1905-1926
Nellie Melba was an Australian opera soprano. She became one of the most famous singers of the late Victorian Era and the early 20th century due to the purity of her lyrical voice and the brilliance of her technique. Melba was the first Australian to achieve international recognition as a classical musician.
|Review||"... there are moments - the Faust final trio, the Otello arias, the French songs - which reveal some real magic, and a remarkable test passage where the voice suddenly leaps free of the primitive recording. Nimbus' Prima Voce transfer system has admirers and detractors, but sounds very acceptable here." Michael Scott Rohan, Classic CD|
