A landmark performance, ‘Zubin Mehta Live in front of the Grand Palace’ was the first international standard outdoor western classical concert in Bangkok. The maestro framed by the beauty of the Grand Palace, especially illuminated for the performance, had the audience spellbound. This CD captures the magic of those few hours in a setting that echoed the power of the music.

Zubin Mehta - Live In Front Of The Grand Palace, Bangkok

"The last stop on the Far East Tour in 2012 was at the Royal Palace of the Kingdom of Thailand, to celebrate the 80th birthday of Her Majesty the Queen Sirikit on Sunday, August 12, where the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, with their conductor, Zubin Mehta, performed an outdoor concert in front of the Grand Palace; a concert televised to the entire country. The programme included: Beethoven's Leonora Overture No 3, Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante in E-flat major for violin, viola and orchestra, K.364 with soloists Ilya Konovalov (violin) and Roman Spitzer (viola), Rimsky Korsakov's Capriccio espagnol Op 34, and Brahms' First Symphony in C minor Op 68. As always, the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra was on very good form and I only wish I could have been in the audience."-Alan M. Kneller
